ACTIVITIES

MAYON VOLCANO - The world's nearly perfect cone. It stands majestically at 7,946 ft. from the broad base about 10 km. In radius. The crater is 2,451 meters above sea level and with a diameter of .5 kilometre. It has a notched rim where a pool or building hot lava boils and rich coal deposits could be found.

CAGSAWA RUINS - A lavish church during the Spanish era that was buried during the eruption in February 1, 1814. Today, only the belfry remains as a mute testimony of Mayon's unpredictable fury and devastating strength. The Cagsawa Ruins Parks affords tourists an unhampered view of Mayon Volcano.

Directions: From Legazpi City, ride a jeep marked with the destinations: Malabog, Guinobatan or Camalig. Ask the driver to drop you off at the road side going to the park.

MAYON VOLCANO NATURAL PARK -  Explore the great outdoors. Trek, hike, climb and go camping. Try bird watching and look for the 21 species of birds known to reside or visit Mt. Mayon, MVNP is the best place to come so close to Mayon.

MAYON SKYLINE PARK - It nestles on the northeast slopes of Mayon at an altitude of 2,700 ft. ASL. From this height, see the panoramic view of Pacific Ocean. Be awed watching towns, shorelines and mountains and be refreshed by the cool pleasant climate.

LIGÑON HILL NATURE PARK - Ligñon overlooks the city from an elevation of 500-ft. above sea level; enjoy the breathtaking view of the cityscapes especially at night. A one-minute drive from the airport; a 3 minute drive from the city proper.

ALBAY PARK & WILDLIFE - A picnic grove and park rolled into one. This place is the best way to commune with nature right in the heart of Legazpi City Have a satisfying social gathering with family and friends while roaming the park which houses 347 animals belonging to 75 species.

BACMAN ECO-PARK - The world's largest bat or large "flying fox" (Pteropus Vampyrus), boiling mudpools and lakes, a sweeping view of the lush protected forests of Bacman Geothermal Reservation. Experience it all.

THE ISLANDS

CAGRARAY ISLAND - Separated from the mainland by the Sula Channel, Cagraray is home to many caves and Albay's best beaches such as Misibis.

RAPU-RAPU ISLAND - This island-municipality on the easternmost portion of the province is not only rich in minerals like gold, silver, copper, and zinc but of stunning beaches, waterfalls, and caves as well.

BATAN ISLAND - Sandwiched between Cagraray and Rapu-rapu islands, Batan is a coal-rich island and home to the mysterious Pototan Cave, a four-hour spelunking site about 10 ft. above the beach line.

SAN MIGUEL ISLAND - In Lagonoy Gulf, still part Tabaco City, this island is blessed with vast coral reefs, seagrass/algal beds and mangroves, where some 7000 inhabitants rely for food and income from the fishing industry.

THE BEACHES

MISIBIS BEACH - Misibis Bay Raintree Resort is a 20-hectare beachfront within a prime enclave, nestling close to the Pacific Ocean. It boasts of a wide stretch of white clean beach, easily reached in 45 minutes from Legazpi City Airport through a scenic 5-minute 3-kilometre boat ride over Sula Channel.

BLACK SAND BEACHES - Drive northeast and experience the black sand beaches along the coasts of Bacacay, Sto. Domingo and Tiwi. The distinct black sand is created from the natural erosion of volcanic rock that evolved from ground lave. The sand is a little grainy and heated but it is easy to walk on. Local folks believe that it has therapeutic benefits.

SOGOD BEACH - In Bacacay, it is the most popular beach. Well-known for its enclaves of black sandy beaches with towering coconut palms and lush vegetation providing cool shades. These beaches are closely adjacent to the national highways. Almost unspoiled, it is an excellent place for bathing and fishing. A convenient place to spend the summer.

SAN LORENZO BEACH - The clear and almost unspoiled beach have lured hundreds of tourists to this place in Tabaco. Its strategic location has commanded a breathtaking view of Tabaco Bay and the green soft-looking and quiet island of San Miguel.

KALAYUKAI BEACH RESORT - If one is familiar with the famous south Pacific Island, this Beach resort in Sto. Domingo, Albay is its duplicate. The sunrise is very beautiful to watch on this beach. Gazebo and bancas are available for hire for visitors who would like to see the clear blue water where eye-catching corals of varied forms could be viewed even without the use of water eye-glasses.

HERITAGE TOURS

Go around Albay for a glimpse of the antiquated stone churches erected out of massive volcanic boulders and stone blocks.

OUR LADY OF THE GATE CHURCH - After 232 years, the Daraga Church remains a reflection of fine art with its heavy baroque design mixed with renaissance gothic noticeable in its facade giving it a special distinction from all the other churches.

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA CHURCH - Declared as a National Cultural treasure, the church has a rare floor plan and borne with strong stonewalls. These and more architectural heritage treasures await the enthusiasts.

ATTRACTIONS

MAGAYON FESTIVAL - "Albay's biggest Festival",  a month long festival held in May showcasing Albay as it comes to age, its cultural heritage, trade, travel and tourism beyond Majestic Mount Mayon. The festival includes various activity such as beauty pageant, photo/art exhibit, street parade & dancing, trade fair, sports fest, guided tours, fireworks & more!

IBALONG FESTIVAL (Legazpi City) - Held in October, it is Albay's grandest and most colourful fest which recreates the exploits of the legendary heroes of  "Ibalong", the prehistoric name of Bicol. The highlight is a street parade depicting the battles between the heroes and beasts of  Ibalong. Other activities include trade fair, art exhibit, sports fest such as the triathlon, guided tours, beauty pageant and other colourful competitions.

WATERFALLS - A little over an hour away from Legazpi City are cascade delights hidden around the nooks of the flora and fauna rich Mt. Malinao. The clear cascading water of Vera and Busai Falls make for a wonderful eco-tourism experience.

CUISINE/DELICACIES - Visitors must try the tasty and extra spicy Pinangat (taro leaves in coco milk) and Bicol Express. For the sweet lovers, various Pili Nut confections is a delight.
